Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella

Step into a world of enchantment with Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, a timeless two-act musical featuring the iconic music of Richard Rodgers and the lyrical brilliance of Oscar Hammerstein II. This adaptation, ingeniously crafted by Douglas Carter Beane, reimagines the classic tale of a young woman trapped in servitude by her cruel stepmother. When her Fairy Godmother magically transforms her, she becomes a elegant lady destined for the royal ball, but in a refreshing twist, she also becomes a catalyst for change in the kingdom, opening the Prince’s eyes to its injustices.

Originally composed for a 1957 television broadcast starring Julie Andrews, this adaptation made history in 2013 by becoming the first Broadway production to showcase the complete Rodgers and Hammerstein score. Beane’s narrative introduces new characters and a compassionate stepsister, adding depth to the beloved story. With timeless melodies and a Cinderella who dares to dream beyond her glass slipper, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella promises to captivate hearts and spirits anew.
Cinderella will be NOVA’s 50th anniversary production and the inaugural Music Theatre production in The Round.

Spring Awakening

Six spellers enter; one speller leaves a champion! At least the losers get a juice box.

Chess

Everybody’s Playing a Game…

An international romantic drama played out against a backdrop of political intrigue and treachery provides the setting for Chess. Set during the height of the Cold War, two of the world’s greatest chess players are about to battle for the World Championship. They think they are just playing chess, but they both unwittingly find themselves pawns of their own governments’ political manipulations as well as being caught up in an epic love triangle.

With music by ABBA’s Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus, and book and lyrics by Sir Tim Rice, Chess soars with romantic ballads and sweeping melodies such as the global smash hits ‘I Know Him So Well’ and ‘One Night in Bangkok’ as well as much-loved standards like ‘Anthem’, ‘Someone Else’s Story’, ‘Heaven Help My Heart’ and ‘Pity The Child’. CLOC’s production will employ bold story-telling, epic vocals with a large cast, powerful contemporary dance and will feature state-of-the-art visuals with a large pop orchestra.
