Places: A Dream Role Cabaret

Places: A Dream Role Cabaret presented by Lightbox Productions is a two act production of your favourite musicals greatest hits.

Places: A Dream Role Cabaret is, first and foremost, a cabaret, not a concert. In a collaboration between the Creative Team and Cast, the Writer and Director/Choreographer duo, Rebekah and Madeline, have pulled from cast members’ dream roles to create a cohesive story.

Depicting the trials and tribulations of lovers, dreamers and the human experience, they have intertwined each performer’s dream role song together, allowing the audience to enjoy each character’s journey as they are guided by The Three Fates to dodge Death’s final judgment.

Places: A Dream Role Cabaret promises an evening of sophistication, joy, and a
preview of the theatrical wonders awaiting us.

Fame the musical

The international smash-hit musical sensation which follows the lives of creative students, at New York’s High School For The Performing Arts, as they navigate their way through the highs and lows, the romances and the heartbreaks and the ultimate elation of life. This bittersweet but uplifting triumph explores the issues that confront many young people today: prejudice, identity, pride, literacy, sexuality, substance abuse and perseverance.

This high-octane musical features the Academy Award-winning title song and a host of pop songs with tonnes of 80’s flavour. This gritty presentation of an iconic musical is a must-see.

Heathers the Musical – High School Edition

Based on the 1989 cult-classic film, Heathers: The Musical has all the vibes and one-liners from the movie but now with an 80s-rock, synth-infused, guitar-shredding score by Laurence O’Keefe (Legally Blonde: The Musical & Bat Boy: The Musical) and clever, cutting lyrics by Kevin Murphy (Reefer Madness: The Musical & Desperate Housewives). Presented as part of the BallaRat Pack’s inaugural summer school, this production is being performed by student aged performers (who better to performer a show about surviving high school?) augmented by a cast of seasoned adults.

Content Note: Heathers is a satirical look at surviving high school. While fun, the show is set in a heightened world that contains elements not suitable for all audiences.

Content Warning: Graphic violence, Self-harm/suicide/suicidal ideation, Sexual references, Homophobia, Stalking/harassment, Fatphobia and Depiction of death.

Please note that content warnings may be updated closer to performance season

Eurobeat: Moldova

Welcome to the small Eastern European country of Moldova. Despite being one of the smallest (and poorest) former Soviet states, this proud nation has defied the Global Financial Crisis, the iron fist of its former sovereign country and indeed all common sense by staging this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
This evening’s show is hosted by the glamorous but fearsome former KGB agent turned lifestyle presenter Katya Kokov and the frothy pop star Nikolae Nikovsky (winner of Moldova’s Got Talent three year’s running). Together they steer you through the political and musical minefield that is this year’s competition which features your favourite European nations such as the United Kingdom, Sweden and Ireland as well as unexpected finalists Morocco and the eagerly anticipated first ever entry from the Vatican City.
Watch and wonder as ten nations fight it out for the ultimate prize and marvel at the entertainment spectacular that the host nation has created for your entertainment. Who wins? Well, you decide as with every performance it is the votes of the live audience that determines who walks away showered in glitter and glory.
This show contains adult themes and sexual references and is not suitable for all audiences.
