ART

by Yasmina Reza

An award winning comedy about what constitutes “art”  directed by Graham Fly

Art is a comedy set in Paris which revolves around three friends and raises questions about art and friendship. Moving from disagreement on the questionable purchase of a completely white painting their arguments become less theoretical and more personal. They border on destroying their friendships.

Serge has bought a modern work of art for a large sum of money. Marc hates the painting and cannot believe that a friend of his could possibly want such a work. Yvan attempts, unsuccessfully, to placate both sides with hilarious consequences. The question is: Are you who you think you are or are you who your friends think you are?

The Woman In Black

Susan Hill’s acclaimed ghost story comes dramatically alive in Stephen Mallatratt’s ingenious stage adaptation

A lawyer young Arthur Kipps is sent to settle a deceased estate in a remote part of Englands east coast.  He sees a wasted young woman dressed all in black at a funeral, while the locals remain mysteriously silent on who she is or her terrible purpose.

Years later, as an older man he is obsessed with the terrible curse he believes haunts him, hires a young actress in a desperate attempt to exorcise the memory of The Woman in Black.  As the tale unfolds they fall deeper in a dark world of eerie marshes and moaning winds.

This startling production relies on hints, atmosphere, glimpses and suggestions, heard and sometimes only half seen as it builds to a chilling climax.
