The goddesses of Love, Virtue and Fortune meddle in the affairs of mortals as they battle for supremacy in Ancient Rome.
Monteverdi’s sweeping score – full of tragedy and comedy, stoicism and joy, romance and revenge – showcases early opera at its finest.
