Happy Ever After | Revisiting Scripts | Spring 2022

‘Happy Ever After’ by Ros Lewis was a runner up at CAT’s Summer Reading 2021. Telling the true story of the writer’s longing and search for happiness as a young woman, only to experience and survive the trauma of intimate partner violence. As part of ‘Revisiting Scripts | Spring 2022’ the piece will be presented as a rehearsed readings showcasing the Dramaturgy and development it has undergone at CAT. Using poetry, narrative and humour, her story takes the audience on a journey encompassing the dark reality of such experiences and what it takes to emerge from their grip and claim back one’s self. Ros offers the hope that recovery and empowerment are possible over time.
Domestic Violence continues to rage in homes everywhere and is a major global issue. ‘Happy Ever After’ contributes a powerful and intimate insight into this epidemic. It provides an honest lens into the raw reality of such trauma, as well as offering hope to those that have been affected by such violence, personally or through friends and family.
