Carrie

In this revamped, contemporary version of the famous (and infamous) 1988 production, Carrie: The Musical follows a young woman with telekinetic powers. An outcast at school, where she is bullied viciously for her differences, Carrie is also lost at home, with a fervently religious mother whose love traps her in its maw. When PE teacher Miss Gardner, kind classmate Sue Snell, and boyfriend Tommy Ross reach out to try and help Carrie, it seems that for once, Carrie might have a shot at being accepted. But Chris Hargensen, the class’s most vicious bully, has other ideas. Pushed to the brink, Carrie’s powers threaten to overwhelm her, and devour everyone around her in flame.

The Sound of Music

The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.

One of the most beloved musicals of all time! In Austria, 1938, an exuberant young governess brings music and joy back to a broken family, only to face danger and intrigue as the Nazis gain power.

The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world’s most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “My Favorite Things,” “Do Re Mi,” “Sixteen Going on Seventeen” and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars.

A Year with Frog and Toad

A hit on Broadway, A Year with Frog and Toad was nominated for three Tony Awards – including Best Musical. Based on Arnold Lobel’s well-loved books, and featuring a hummable score by Robert and Willie Reale, this whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog and the rather uptight Toad – through four fun-filled seasons.
Waking from hibernation in the Spring, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves, go sledding and learn life lessons along the way. The two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special. Part vaudeville, part make-believe… all charm, A Year with Frog and Toad tells the story of a friendship that endures throughout the seasons.
The jazzy, upbeat score of A Year with Frog and Toad bubbles with melody and wit, making it an inventive, exuberant and enchanting musical for the whole family.
A Year with Frog and Toad will run from 1 – 16 March 2024 at Beaumaris Theatre

Fame the musical

The international smash-hit musical sensation which follows the lives of creative students, at New York’s High School For The Performing Arts, as they navigate their way through the highs and lows, the romances and the heartbreaks and the ultimate elation of life. This bittersweet but uplifting triumph explores the issues that confront many young people today: prejudice, identity, pride, literacy, sexuality, substance abuse and perseverance.

This high-octane musical features the Academy Award-winning title song and a host of pop songs with tonnes of 80’s flavour. This gritty presentation of an iconic musical is a must-see.

Heathers the Musical – High School Edition

Based on the 1989 cult-classic film, Heathers: The Musical has all the vibes and one-liners from the movie but now with an 80s-rock, synth-infused, guitar-shredding score by Laurence O’Keefe (Legally Blonde: The Musical & Bat Boy: The Musical) and clever, cutting lyrics by Kevin Murphy (Reefer Madness: The Musical & Desperate Housewives). Presented as part of the BallaRat Pack’s inaugural summer school, this production is being performed by student aged performers (who better to performer a show about surviving high school?) augmented by a cast of seasoned adults.

Content Note: Heathers is a satirical look at surviving high school. While fun, the show is set in a heightened world that contains elements not suitable for all audiences.

Content Warning: Graphic violence, Self-harm/suicide/suicidal ideation, Sexual references, Homophobia, Stalking/harassment, Fatphobia and Depiction of death.

Please note that content warnings may be updated closer to performance season
